Acts 1


Introduction
  1. the gospels offer proof that Jesus is the Christ, Son of the living God
  2. he is the rock upon which the church is built
  3. The Acts of the Apostles' relates how it began to be built
  4. Written by Luke between AD 63-70 ;  Luke's Gospel written AD 60
  5. Matthew written AD 60-65, Mark written AD 55-65, John AD 85-90
  6. covers the 30 years after Jesus ascension
Acts 1
  1. v.1 Theophilus; see Luke 1:3, possibly a benefactor or student, both
  2. v.4 Luke 24:49 stay in Jerusalem, wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit
  3. came together where; Olivet see v.12 ; mount of Olives in Bethany see Luke 24:50
  4. v.6 men place the greatness of the church on the power it has. The disciples would then be honored as leaders in the realm. Christ told us to expect the cross. that goes for today also.
  5. v.7 1 thessalonians 5:1-2 it is not for you to know
  6. v.12 no further than devout people would walk
  7. v.16 scripture fulfilled Psalm 41:9
  8. v.24 all decisions should be prayed over
  9. v.26 an appeal to God, lawful if done with solemnity and prayer Proverbs 16:33
